About Sangeeta Lahiri 


Founder Director of a non-profit - Shruti Music Foundation, Mumbai, The A graded All India Radio & Doordarshan Artist and daughter of Sitarist and Guru Shri Rabindranath Lahiri (disciple of Ustad Dabir Khan). Sangeeta grew up in an environment imbued with the fragrance of Hindustani Classical Music.

At the age of three, her father initiated her into the intricacies of vocal music. She then received advanced training under the late Pt. Chinmoy Lahiri and, later, the esteemed exponent of the Rampur Saheswan Gharana, Ustad Ghulam Akbar Khan. Her singing abilities were also given an extra dimension through her tutelage under the traditional thumri exponent Smt. Brijbala Devi of Muzaffarpur. Her training under great maestros like Pt. Yashwantbua Joshi, Pt. Mukul Shivputra, Ustad Aslam Khan and Pt. Nayan Ghosh has been highly fruitful in helping her develop an advanced perspective of Raags and Taals. During these many years of rigorous training, Sangeeta has grown significantly as a dynamic vocalist.

Sangeeta was awarded the 'Surmani' by the Sursinger Samsad, the Ravi Kichlu Foundation Award, Doverlane Music Award, the All India Radio Competitions Award, and the CCRT Scholarships Award from the government of India. A graded artist for All India Radio & impaneled artist of The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

She has performed at many esteemed venues and music festivals across India and abroad, Such as Nazrul Manch (Kolkata), the Gandhi Maidan Thumri Festival (Patna), Tansen Samaroh (Madhya Pradesh), Sur Sringar Samsad Festival (Mumbai), Swar Sadhnotsav Sangeet Sammelan and the National Festival of Music & Dance (Kerala), Khajuraho Festival and many others.

She has recorded her voice for various projects, Such as "Mysterious Awakening," a world music album for HMV 'Sa Re Ga Ma.' she has lent her voice to many background scores of various television and film productions.

As a Music Guru, Sangeeta helps many professional and dedicated students worldwide through her unique teaching skills and the widely traditional knowledge she has acquired.

She promotes and preserves Indian classical music through the highly regarded Non- Profit institution Shruti Music Foundation, Mumbai (www.shrutimusic.org).

Shankh Lahiri

Multi-talented Shankh Lahiri comes from a family with a long tradition of Indian Classical Music and has entirely devoted his life to this Music. Son of the sitarist and Guru Shri Rabindranath Lahiri, He grew up in an environment imbued with Hindustani Music's fragrance. As a child, he received intensive training in both vocal and tabla from his father and graduated in both subjects. Currently, (last couple decades) Shankh is the devoted senior disciple of world-renowned Tabla maestro Pandit Nayan Ghosh.
Shankh has shared the stage with such legendary artists as Pandit Jasraj, Ustad Shujaat Khan, Ustad Shahid Parvez, Ustad Irshad Khan, Arati Ankalikar, Pandit Nayan Ghosh, Rakesh Chaurasia, and many more. Shankh is the Founder & Director of the Shruti Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization and Shruti School of Music based in Tampa, Florida, that promotes Indian Classical Music through teaching, Work- shops, and Concerts.
